New Magic Wand

This is my unofficial video for the track ‘New Magic Wand’ from Tyler‘s 2019 album ‘Igor’. It was released on May 17, 2019, through Columbia Records. Produced solely by Tyler himself, the album features guest appearances from Playboi Carti, Lil Uzi Vert, Solange, Kanye West, and Jerrod Carmichael.

It is a compelling and intense track by an enigmatic and talented artist. The song stands out for its raw emotions, evocative lyrics, and unique production.

From the very beginning, it captivates listeners with its haunting and sinister instrumental arrangement. The track opens with a piercing siren-like sound, setting an eerie tone that persists throughout. Tyler’s production prowess shines through, as he masterfully combines dark synth textures, pulsating basslines, and distorted vocal samples to create a soundscape that is both unsettling and captivating.

Lyrically, the song delves into themes of obsession, possessiveness, and toxic relationships. Tyler’s vivid and metaphorical storytelling paints a vivid picture of a tumultuous affair, as he wrestles with his desire to control and manipulate the object of his affection. Lines like “I’ll take you home and dress you / But nah, I ain’t Chris” and “I saw you at Coachella / I saw you at ComplexCon” showcase Tyler’s knack for blending personal experiences with imaginative narratives.

The track’s chorus is particularly memorable, with Tyler’s urgent and emotionally charged delivery. As he repeatedly declares, “I wanna, I wanna, I wanna, I wanna / I wanna, I wanna, I wanna, I wanna,” his desperation and frustration become palpable. The repetition of this refrain creates a sense of urgency, mirroring the intensity of the song’s subject matter.

Overall I think this track stands out as a testament to Tyler, the Creator’s growth as an artist. It showcases his ability to push boundaries and experiment with unconventional sounds while maintaining a cohesive and engaging musical experience. With its dark and captivating atmosphere, thought-provoking lyrics, and powerful delivery, it remains a standout track in Tyler’s discography, solidifying his status as a visionary in the realm of contemporary hip-hop.
