Baby Come Home
This is my video for Baby Come Home by Ace of Cups, a band from San Francisco. Like Sons of Adam, they never escaped the scene that they were a part of. They played with all the big Bay Area bands of the mid/late 60s. Unlike Sons of Adam, they didn’t release anything at the time although they recorded many wonderful tracks, most of which appear on the great Ace Records comp ‘It’s Bad For You But Buy It!’
They reformed in 2016 to finally record their debut album on High Moon Records (who also put out Sons of Adam). I didn’t expect too much but it’s great. The band are tight and the songs are a joy. They’ve done a couple of albums since.
Some of the images in this vid have been recycled elsewhere (or have been recycled for this). The colour photograph of the woman in the blue dress standing outside a front door is from a Twitter account that restores (not colourises) old colour photographs. Photographs taken over a hundred years ago look like they were taken yesterday. It’s one of my favourite Twitter accounts.
The video wasn’t used in the end. The band had already asked someone else to do it. I don’t mind, I enjoyed making it and I got paid.
